Destin Fishing Charters

When in Destin, Fish with a Destin

That saying has been in Captain Justin Destin's family for five generations. And the belief behind it has never changed: what matters most is the fish your group catches and the experience they have on that boat. That's been the standard on the Un Reel for over two decades.

Un Reel runs private offshore fishing charters out of Destin Harbor. Families, large groups, first-timers, experienced anglers — everyone is welcome, and everyone gets the same trip: a patient captain, a hardworking crew, and a genuine effort to put you on fish.

Bring the Whole Group

Most charter boats in Destin are licensed for 6 passengers. The Un Reel is licensed for up to 17, so your whole crew can fish together on a single private charter — no splitting up, no leaving anyone behind.

More passengers also means more people sharing the cost. The boat is built for larger groups: big salon, wide back deck, and plenty of room to fish comfortably. Still completely private — just your group, nobody else.

Charter Trips

5-Hour Family Trip

Kids fishing! Catch-and-release bottom fishing, shark fishing, nearshore trolling, and dolphin watching. The trip younger kids talk about for years.

6-Hour Offshore

The most popular trip. Bottom fishing and nearshore trolling. Perfect for families or a group that wants to bring dinner back to the dock without spending all day on the water.

8-Hour Offshore

Stepping up to bigger fish. More time offshore, heavier bottom fishing, offshore trolling for wahoo, blackfin tuna, and king mackerel. Great for mixed groups ready to push further.

10 to 12-Hour Deep Water

Serious bottom fishing all day. Deep water, big fish, offshore trolling. The trip anglers come back for.

What to Expect Fishing Destin

Most people come to Destin for the beach. The white sand, the emerald water, the whole Gulf Coast experience. And somewhere in the middle of that trip, they decide they want to get out on the water and actually fish it.

That's where Un Reel comes in. A few miles offshore, the Gulf floor drops over hard bottom, ledges, and structure that hold an impressive variety of species. Red snapper and grouper are what people come back for. Cobia, wahoo, king mackerel, amberjack, and triggerfish fill out the cooler depending on what's running. When conditions line up, blue marlin are out there too.

Justin has spent his entire life learning this water. He knows which spots are holding fish on any given day, and he puts your group on them.

What It's Like on the Un Reel

Justin runs the Un Reel the way he'd want to be treated as a guest. Patient captain. Crew that's good with kids and comfortable with any skill level. Accommodating for large groups and relaxed enough that everyone on board has a good time — whether they've been fishing the Gulf for thirty years or they've never held a rod.

The boat is comfortable and well-maintained — Starlink, mezzanine seating, air conditioning, a head on board. Every trip is private. Your group, nobody else, and a crew that's focused entirely on making sure you catch fish and enjoy the day.

Captain Justin Destin

Fifth generation Destin fisherman. Twenty-one years as a charter captain. A decade-plus in the top 10 in the fleet. His grandfather said it best: when in Destin, fish with a Destin.

Our Boat — The Un Reel

The Un Reel is a 55-foot Gillman sportfishing vessel powered by twin 500HP Cummins engines. She runs at up to 20 knots and is set up for serious fishing: outriggers, downriggers, live bait well, fishfinder, GPS, Starlink, air conditioning, and mezzanine seating throughout.

Big salon. Wide back deck. Plenty of fishing room for groups of any size. Justin keeps the boat dialed in because the boat is part of the product.
